The numbers
It is a real marketplace with 140 qualified providers, 186 Artificial Intelligence solutions, 59 innovative startups, about seventy SMEs involved, over 70 structured business needs, and 30 matching processes already initiated. The system was first tested in Turin, the Institute’s headquarters, as part of the AI Match Torino program, to validate a technology transfer model that supports SMEs in adopting Artificial Intelligence-based solutions. The challenge now is to scale this model nationwide, thanks to the support of the chamber system, a model that has recorded a series of successful cases even in small businesses. For businesses, especially small and medium-sized ones, the decisive point is to translate concrete needs into achievable projects, identifying technologies and partners consistent with their objectives. Suk collects and structures business demand and enables a guided matching process between industrial needs and ready-to-adopt technological solutions, through a precise path for promoting technology transfer that is an alternative to the classic model. And it leverages the AI4I Institute’s ability to work as a coordinator of a qualified network for technological and industrial sourcing.
If spreading good practices regarding emerging AI-based technologies is the project’s number one objective, one of the ambitions is to support and qualify the network of Italian ICT companies, in the context of the AI Act and the spread of Artificial Intelligence in industrial environments. The core of the model developed in Turin and intended for SMEs throughout Italy lies precisely in the matching activity: AI4I analyzes the use case developed together with the company, identifies the most coherent providers, and builds a technical comparison path aimed at defining the most suitable project solution. A modus operandi that has led to the development of five use cases in very different sectors, from AI applications serving food quality to quality control through Computer Vision in packaging, passing through smart access systems to museums, talent enhancement, and design processes in industrial design.
