The goal is ambitious: to create a global platform that is a reference point in the aerospace and defense industry supply chain. Not bad for a company that, just 15 years ago, had a turnover of 4 million euros and is preparing to close 2026 with revenues of about 80 million, thanks to the organic development of its plants and thanks to a policy of targeted acquisitions that, just these days, has seen a new entity added to the group’s portfolio.

The Bologna-based Poggipolini – specialized in the design and production of critical fastening elements, precision components, and advanced solutions for the Aerospace & Defense sectors – has in fact acquired the Californian company Saturn Fasteners, based in Burbank, in the Los Angeles area. This is the second operation in the United States where, in 2024, Poggipolini had acquired Houston Precision Fasteners. “The two companies integrate and complement each other, strengthening the group’s offering in a strategic market like the American one, which concentrates 80% of the demand in Aerospace,” explains CEO Michele Poggipolini. “This operation represents a further step in Poggipolini’s international growth path and strengthens our presence in California, one of the most important aerospace ecosystems in the world,” he adds.
Two aspects particularly characterize the acquisition, announced last July 17 and finalized on Monday: “It is an industrial operation, now a rarity in a sector where funds are now the protagonists – explains the CEO -. We bring an investment logic, with the aim of increasing the production capacity of a historic American company, to meet the high demand of the sector.”

The operation fits into the development path undertaken 15 years ago by the Bologna company, which until 2010 concentrated 90% of its business in Formula 1: “After a period of difficulty, we decided to invest to transfer our skills to the aeronautical sector – recounts the entrepreneur –. A very complex sector, which requires, to compete, critical mass, certifications, and very specific skills.” Hence the start of an M&A strategy, begun in 2022 with the acquisition of Aviomec in Mornago, thanks to which Poggipolini became a supplier of Leonardo Helicopters, followed in 2024 by that of Houston Precision Fasteners and the acquisition of the majority of Aero Fasteners based in Rothak, India. Today the group generates about 75% of its revenues abroad and 25% in Italy.
But Italy, with our plant in San Lazzaro di Savena, in Bologna, remains strategic in the company’s development which foresees organic growth, driven precisely by the Bologna plant, and growth through acquisitions, focusing on the European and North American markets. “We are just at the beginning,” assures Poggipolini, reiterating the goal of creating a platform capable of providing customers with all the “pieces” of the supply chain they need.
