The announcement was also disseminated via a video published on X by presidential advisor Dan Scavino, in which Trump formally anticipates the decision, saying: “Tomorrow I will instruct Dan and everyone else involved in this complex process, which will proceed quickly, to make Blanche the permanent Attorney General.”
The nomination, once formalized, will end the approximately two-month period during which Blanche served as interim, taking over after the removal of Pam Bondi.

In a statement, spokeswoman Abigail Jackson emphasized the “solid” relationship between Trump and Blanche, calling his work “very effective” and placing it within the administration’s security and justice strategy.
Blanche’s possible nomination had been considered highly probable for several weeks. Trump has repeatedly referred to him as a trusted ally, highlighting his legal expertise and full alignment with the administration’s political priorities. During his time as acting Attorney General, Blanche promoted a series of initiatives with strong political and judicial impact. These included new investigations into figures considered adversaries of the president, including former FBI director James Comey, as well as interventions on gun regulations and federal campaigns against fraud.
