Philips MRI with AI debuts at JMedical in Turin

The Philips BlueSeal MRI, the first in Italy with on-board artificial intelligence functions and a low-helium operating system, arrives at Jmedical, Juventus’ diagnostic center. This is, the company explains in a note, “an initiative that expresses a shared vision aimed at combining technological innovation, the pursuit of clinical performance, quality of care and sustainability”.

The installation also marks another significant milestone: it is the 200th Philips MRI, part of a family of MRIs with a low-helium BlueSeal magnet – they use only 7 liters of helium with an overall saving over time of 740 thousand liters of substance and over 1.17 million kg of CO₂ – with a reduction in helium requirements compared to the previous generation of Philips MRIs.

“Today, every technological choice can contribute to making the healthcare system more efficient and responsible, reducing its environmental impact without sacrificing the diagnostic quality required by clinical practice. The collaboration with J|medical demonstrates how sharing the same vision can translate into concrete innovations for the benefit of healthcare professionals, athletes, and patients,” emphasizes Alessandro Leo, business leader imaging Philips Italy, Israel, and Greece.

According to Gino Carnazza, technical director of diagnostic imaging at J|medical, “the new 1.5 tesla Philips BlueSeal MRI, equipped with latest-generation artificial intelligence software, allows for high-quality images to be obtained in significantly reduced execution times. This translates into highly reliable diagnoses while ensuring high patient comfort”.

At the heart of the BlueSeal family is a completely sealed magnet that uses only about 7 liters of helium compared to the approximately 1,500 liters required by conventional systems. This solution eliminates the need for refills throughout the entire life cycle of the equipment and helps preserve a strategic resource for numerous healthcare and scientific applications. An engineering architecture that also makes the system more resilient because even in the event of power outages, the MRI can return to operation without extraordinary procedures.
