Tidal effect
The project involves the complete reconstruction of the two bridges, the renovation of the load-bearing structures and the renewal of underground utilities, technological systems, sidewalks, parapets and public lighting, with the aim of returning safer, more efficient infrastructures to the city, adequate to current functional standards. A construction site worth 2 million euros, which must follow the rhythm of the tides.
The phase relating to the new foundations is particularly delicate. The works are carried out at levels below sea level and require planning strictly linked to the cycles of high and low tide. During low tide windows, teams can operate directly on the structures, while during high tide periods, the support of specialized underwater operators is necessary for the placement of formwork and the execution of more complex operations. The organization of the construction site must therefore adapt daily to the sea conditions. Demolition and reconstruction works have entered their crucial phase: during this period of the year – the company reports – the most favorable conditions are recorded during the night and early morning hours, when low tides allow progress in the construction of the new bridge abutments.
