«We hope to complete the design by the end of this year. Again, the decision on construction will be based on the results of the design. We are moving forward with this project. It is very important: a similar project was discussed in tsarist times, during the Stalinist period, and was proposed as a bridge of peace between Khrushchev and Kennedy. Therefore, several modifications have been discussed for a long time,» the Russian official said. «We believe that China could also join this project, as it will have important infrastructural implications for connecting the continent,» Dmitriev noted.
