Former Mayor of Venice Luigi Brugnaro has been indicted for the alleged violation of the law on electoral expenses, related to the 2020 administrative campaign. The trial has been set for September 21.

Along with Brugnaro, his chief of staff, Morris Ceron, Walter Bianchi, from the Consorzio produzione e sviluppo Nordest, and Adriano Giugie, electoral expense agent, have also been indicted, for various charges including false statements and illicit financing. The investigation centers on an alleged “overspending” of the electoral expense ceiling of around 300,000 euros.
