And to think that the “Echoes” project was born in 2022 with the sole aim of reaffirming the positioning of iGuzzini – a company from Recanati specialized in architectural and lighting technology solutions – in the history of Italian design, made up of great masters and timeless icons. Where it all began, in 1959, the year the company was founded, which today is a reality with over 200 million euros in revenue, 83% generated abroad, more than 1,200 employees, three production plants, and 45 offices worldwide, and which since 2018 has been part of the Swedish Fagerhult group.

“Our desire was to reaffirm our DNA and share this heritage that belongs to the history of Italian design, through a program that provides for the reissue of at least one gem from our historical archive every year and thus tell our origins and the journey that has accompanied us over these 70 years,” explains Cristiano Venturini, CEO of the Marche-based company. There is no intention to bring iGuzzini back into the decorative segment: “We are and remain a lighting technology company, strongly focused on innovation and operating exclusively through B2B channels,” the CEO clarifies. “However, we want to convey the ‘warm tech’ character of our brand, which combines a technological and advanced research vocation with a warmer soul, of Italian identity.” It is not a commercial operation, therefore, but an operation of heritage, of brand positioning.
The initiative, however, has been appreciated by the market, so much so that the company in Recanati has received some requests to exhibit the reissued pieces from the historical archive (to date about ten, with projects by Gio Ponti, Rodolfo Bonetto, Ennio Lucini, and Luigi Massoni, plus two new objects inspired by the archive icons) and even some purchase requests.

Hence the decision to open an e-commerce channel dedicated to the pieces from the Echoes collection. The new platform, connected to the iGuzzini website, allows direct access to the reissues, until now available only through specialist circuits, but also to some more contemporary pieces, such as Pizzakobra by Ron Arad, and some versions of Lingotto and Le Perroquet by Renzo Piano. On the e-commerce site, it is also possible to purchase the wireless battery lamps Clan Mini and Whisper, inspired by the Echoes collection.
The project therefore aims to enhance iGuzzini’s research and expertise heritage, repositioning the brand within a design tradition that still today represents an added value, a distinctive feature even for a company whose core business is now technical lighting. And which, despite uncertainties and difficulties in global markets, managed to close 2025 with an EBIT of 12% – a historic record – also thanks to exiting lower-margin sectors. This resulted in a slight revenue reduction (-6%, to 205 million euros), but an improvement in margins. EBITDA is at 17% and cash generation was around 15%.
