There are 42 Italian municipalities where the polls are open for the run-off round of administrative elections, scheduled for today and June 8. The leadership of local administrations will be contested largely in centers with over 15,000 inhabitants. Six are provincial capitals: Lecco, Arezzo, Macerata, Chieti, Trani and Agrigento. Overall, the round involves over 1.13 million voters and the polls will be open from 7 am to 11 pm today and tomorrow from 7 am to 3 pm. Voting is also taking place for the first round in 148 municipalities in Sardinia.

The run-offs in the six provincial capitals and in Mandatoriccio
As mentioned, 42 municipalities are voting again for the administrative run-offs scheduled for Sunday, June 7 and Monday, June 8. As for the provincial capitals, in Lecco the run-off will be between the center-right candidate Filippo Boscagli and the center-left candidate and outgoing mayor Mauro Gattinoni. In Arezzo, the challenge will be between the center-right candidate Marcello Comanducci and the broad-field candidate Vincenzo Ceccarelli. In Macerata, the center-right candidate and outgoing mayor Sandro Parcaroli and the broad-field candidate Gianluca Tittarelli will compete. In Chieti, the broad-field candidate Giovanni Legnini will challenge the center-right candidate Cristiano Sicari. In Trani, the run-off is between the center-left candidate Marco Galiano and the center-right candidate Angelo Guarriello. In Agrigento, the center-left candidate Michele Sodano and the center-right candidate Gerlando Alonge will compete. A run-off will also take place in the municipality of Mandatoriccio (Cosenza), with fewer than 15,000 inhabitants, because in the first round the two candidates for mayor, Maria Teresa Villella (Nuova Alba) and Cataldo Iozzi (Uniti per Mandatoriccio), obtained exactly the same number of votes: 852 preferences each.

149 Municipalities in Sardinia also voting
Administrative elections will also be held in Sardinia on Sunday and Monday. Out of a total of 377, 149 municipalities on the island are going to the polls to choose mayors and renew municipal councils. Although this represents about 40 percent of the island’s communities, many are small, and the total number of voters called to the polls is about 440,000, roughly 30% of the total. Most of the municipalities involved in these Administrative elections in Sardinia come from the province with the smallest centers: in the Oristano area, 38 municipalities are voting. In the two Metropolitan Cities of Cagliari and Sassari, voting takes place in 27 centers each, 20 municipalities are in the province of Nuoro, 13 in Gallura North-East Sardinia, 11 in Medio Campidano, 7 in Ogliastra and 6 in the province of Sulcis Iglesiente.
