Beijing’s role in AI and trade
The Chinese president announced that China will take a leading role in creating a BRICS AI Open Source Zone, aiming to promote cooperation in artificial intelligence, large language models, training, and an open AI ecosystem. The BRICS must “strengthen cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, promote open source, openness, collaboration, and sharing,” Xi stated.
On Saturday, Xi invited BRICS countries to join a new organization promoted by Beijing, which brings together nearly thirty states and is called the World AI Cooperation Organization. Xi also proposed a partnership between BRICS Special Economic Zones and announced that China will host next year, when it will be the rotating president of the organization, a forum to strengthen trade ties and investments.
