The general index of industrial production (Ipi) in Spain increased by 2.6% in July compared to the same month in 2025, recording a slowdown of 1.2 percentage points compared to the growth rate in June; this was announced on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics Ine. With this year-on-year increase recorded in July – the smallest since last May (+0.4%) – industrial production marked five consecutive months of growth. The increase in industrial production in July was driven by rises in the energy sectors (+6.3%), capital goods (+4.5%), non-durable consumer goods (+1.5%), and intermediate goods (+0.6%).

On the other hand, the production of durable consumer goods fell by 9.5% year-on-year. Net of seasonal and calendar effects, industrial production increased by 2.3% year-on-year in July, a rate 1.2 points higher than the previous month. This increase also marks five consecutive months of year-on-year growth in the series adjusted for seasonal effects. On a monthly basis (July compared to June), and within the series adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, industrial production increased by 0.6%, contrary to the 0.7% decline recorded in June. Analyzing the individual sectors, capital goods showed the largest monthly increase in production (+1.6%), while durable consumer goods recorded the sharpest monthly decline (-3.1%).
