The initiative
The initiative, aimed at young people between 18 and 34 years old, was created to strengthen the relationship between Inps and the new generations through a program focused on social security education and knowledge of welfare and the labor market. The strategy has developed along three lines: being present on the channels most frequented by young people; making welfare information simpler, more understandable, and useful; adopting languages and formats capable of encouraging participation and engagement. Today, compared to two years ago, it is easier for a young person to access the contribution statement, degree redemption, bonuses and scholarships, as well as benefits such as Isee, Inclusion Allowance (ADI), or Work Training Support (SFL).
The youth portal
The youth portal – the section of the INPS.it website dedicated to services for under 34s – recorded 3.3 million visits and 2.8 million unique visitors, of which 1.7 million from the INPS mobile APP, while social media activities generated over 1.6 million interactions. In the same period, the share of young people registered in the MyINPS personal area grew by 12%, and about 20% of users coming from the youth section continued their journey by accessing at least one of the services provided by the Institute.

Social security does not start at the end of work
The president of Inps, Gabriele Fava, stated that «when we talk about social security, the most natural temptation is to look back. We look at the protections accrued, the accounts to preserve, the guarantees owed to those who have completed their working life. That is right. It is necessary. But it is no longer enough. A social security system is not truly solid only when it pays today’s pensions. It is solid when it builds the conditions to guarantee those of tomorrow as well. And that tomorrow belongs to young people. Social security, in fact, does not start at the end of working life. It starts with the first contract, with the first contribution, with the first choice. A young person who does not know their contribution position does not know which tools they can use and experiences work as a succession of interruptions, struggling to plan a home, a family, their own future».
A new pact with the young generations
This evolution underpins the idea proposed by President Fava to build a new pact with the young generations. «The new pact with young people is built around a simple and concrete idea, which I have summarized in the three Ps: Partnership, platforms, and conscious social security – explained Fava -. The first concerns companies, the primary partner of social security and the first place where a young person encounters stability, skills, and perspective. The second concerns the tools. The Youth Portal is not just a container of information, but a platform that makes the relationship with the Institute simpler and more direct. The third P is the challenge we need to work on more. Over the years, a culture of conscious social security has been lacking, and we want to build it by meeting young people in the places where their decisions are formed, in schools, universities, job fairs, orientation spaces, and digital channels. Meetings, workshops, roadshows, mobile desks, podcasts, short videos, and social content are not a communication exercise. They are concrete tools to reduce the distance between a recognized right and the actual possibility of exercising it. It is not about asking young people to think about old age already. It is about giving them today the tools to manage their tomorrow».
