Classic Neapolitan song, the Unesco candidacy starts from Verona

Patti Smith and Sal Da Vinci will also be at the Arena di Verona (live from 9:30 PM on Rai 1) for “Campioni del mondo-Italia loves Unesco”, an initiative to commemorate Italy’s record for the number of sites recognized by Unesco (a remarkable 61) but, above all, to launch the candidacy of classic Neapolitan song after the recognition granted to opera and Italian cuisine as intangible cultural heritage of humanity. An event evening desired by the Minister of Tourism Gianmarco Mazzi, which will take place in the presence of 100 Unesco delegates from all over the world (but not Russians).

Inside the Amphitheater, artistic tableaux of the most famous Italian opera arias will be performed, alternating with artists who will propose classic Neapolitan songs. The arias will be staged thanks to the commitment of 500 artists, with the Orchestra, Choir, and Ballet of the Arena, Plácido Domingo (who, with Serena Autieri, will sing Dicitencello Vuje), Vittorio Grigolo (‘O sole mio), Gigi D’Alessio (‘O surdato ‘nnammurato), Sal Da Vinci (Tu ca nun chiagne), Serena Rossi (Era di maggio), Massimo Ranieri (Te vojo bene assaje), Gianni Morandi (Caruso) and Patti Smith, who will perform an aria and sing “Because the night” in a symphonic version.
