Announced but still in the design phase at CES (Consumer Electronic Show) in Las Vegas in early January 2026, the Gene.01 prototype was completed within six months. Generative bionics, the company led by Daniele Pucci, is already adapting the platform to its first industrial use case through a collaboration with Fincantieri dedicated to welding activities in shipyards. In fact, the robot’s hands will be replaced with welders.
The company explains in a statement, “it also makes the digital model of the robot available in open source mode, offering physical AI developers a base from which to create specific applications for industry. Gene.01 will make its debut in the United States, in San Francisco, at the AMD Advancing AI 2026 event, scheduled for July 22 and 23.”

Generative bionics is based in Genoa and aims, as seen, to bring intelligent humanoid robots made in Italy to the market, designed with particular attention to design and integration with people. The company raised 70 million euros in a seed round (in December 2025) led by Cdp Venture Capital, with participation from AMD Ventures, Duferco, Eni Next, Roboit, and Tether, supporting the development of the new generation of physical AI, centered on humans for industrial applications.
